Residential Crisis Support

The first of its kind in NYC, our Residential Crisis Support program is an alternative to emergency hospitalization for individuals aged 21 and up experiencing psychiatric crises. It is a welcoming and supportive home-like environment.

WELCOME

For too long the default destination for New Yorkers in distress has been either the emergency room or prison. Our Residential Crisis Support program instead offers warmth, empathy, and compassion together with access to a wide range of recovery-oriented services.

  • 24-hour support from peers (individuals with lived experience of receiving mental health services and trained to provide support to others)
  • Self-advocacy education
  • Self-help training
  • Group and one-on-one activities, including: yoga, art, poetry, wellness self-management, meal planning, and meditation

Stays at the Crisis Residence are voluntary — and, to the fullest possible extent, guests are welcome to continue their regular schedules (at work, with treatment providers, etc.) during their stay. Guests may also receive visitors.

Access Crisis Supports

Are you a New York City resident (21+) experiencing, or anticipating, a psychiatric and/or emotional crisis? If so, you may be interested in becoming a guest at our Adult Crisis Residence.

Here’s a quick overview of how our intake process works:

  • As a first step, contact us – at the number listed below – so that our Crisis Residence can ask you some pre-registration questions.
  • If you meet our eligibility requirements, we’ll then guide you through next steps – including what we’ll need from a licensed mental health provider before you can begin your stay with us. (Please note: we can help connect you to a licensed mental health provider, if needed.)

You can also follow these same steps to refer someone else to us – provided they meet the same eligibility standards.
