43rd Anniversary Good Neighbor Gala Sets New Fundraising High!

Our 43rd Anniversary Good Neighbor Gala at 583 Park Avenue was truly a night to remember – and the most successful fundraiser in our history. We set the bar to $1.1 million, and counting!

Our theme was “Strong Foundations, New Horizons.” We told the story of our organization: a story of perseverance and dedication, of learning and growing, of providing homes, hopes, and futures to New Yorkers in need.

And we told the stories of some of the people who have changed their lives with our help. In turn, they continue to enrich and improve our work, and inform our mission.

I’m glad we got to introduce Community Access to many new friends and to enjoy a special evening with many longtime friends. I’m most thankful!

Event highlights included:

An exceptional honoree: Citi Community Capital
A chance to say a fond farewell to two greatly-admired colleagues, who will both soon retire: Maggi Knox (after 29 years), and Sandy Lowe (after 22)
An uplifting speech from our special guest – actor, director, writer, and New Yorker, John Turturro
A heart-wrenching, inspiring, and funny speech by CA participant Marcia Richard
The debut of two new short films (see below), about our work and impact
