Kate Spade Statement

Kate Spade Statement

We're taking a moment today to share the following statement — after the sad news that Kate Spade was found dead in her New York apartment yesterday, in an apparent suicide:

The stigma surrounding mental health too often prevents those who want support from coming forward. People can still lose their jobs, their homes, and their relationships if they come out about their mental health concerns. We need to change the perception around those who have mental health concerns. We need to tell society that those living with mental health concerns are parents, business leaders, lawyers, nurses, and so many other good neighbors. Only then will people with mental health concerns feel welcome and able to seek support without fear of negative impacts. Good mental health is a fundamental part of well-being, and people should not be penalized for speaking out.
