We Are a Nonprofit Excellence Awards Finalist
I am pleased to announce that Community Access has been selected as a finalist in the 2014 New York Community Trust Nonprofit Excellence Awards. This is a substantial honor and follows a rigorous review that covered eight key areas of performance:
- Overall management focus on results
- Governance structure
- Strong, transparent and accountable financial management
- Inclusive, diverse and responsive organizational practices
- Enlightened use of human resources
- Appropriate and reliable information technology systems
- Regular and effective communications
- Effective, ethical fundraising
We are now among a group of six nonprofits vying for three winning spots at the awards ceremony scheduled for November 20th.
From modest beginnings — two Lower East Side tenement buildings that were lovingly repaired by our volunteer founders - we've become one of the oldest and largest nonprofit organizations in NYC dedicated to ending homelessness and to transforming systems of care for people with psychiatric disabilities. We continue to invest in strategic initiatives that will position Community Access to make an even bigger impact.
